As a studio technician, acoustics are one of the most important things I have to take into account when doing my job. Even when I'm not working, I immediately notice the acoustic properties of a room. My experience shows that acoustics are rarely at the top of the priority list when designing and furnishing spaces of all kinds.

As a highly sensitive person, I even started to subconsciously avoid these kinds of spaces, which is altogether unnecessary, since a bad acoustic balance is easy to solve. This is why I personally would like to make spaces agreeable and accessible for everyone.

Room Acoustics

In spaces with many hard surfaces, such as hospitals, gyms, restaurants, offices, and classrooms, acoustics have a huge influence on the experience of the space.

Squeaking shoes, the hum of a ventilation system, instructions from teachers, music, the use of cutlery, and ringing telephones are all background noises that create reverberation. These reverberations lead to an unpleasant "busy" atmosphere, poor audibility, headaches, and loss of concentration and productivity.

This problem can be solved by balancing the room acoustically in an aesthetic way. A measurement of the reverberation can determine exactly what interventions are needed. Then with a combination of absorption, damping, and diffusion, certain sound frequencies are neutralized. The room will feel calmer and more pleasant while avoiding excessive strain on the ears.
